Helping your client meet their philanthropic goals through creating a customized fund with the Community Foundation of Washington County is easy!

The Community Foundation of Washington County provides extensive donor flexibility in establishing funds and designating charitable beneficiaries. Funds can be named for the donor, in memory of others, or for a designated purpose such as a specific charitable organization. Our funds are invested in a pool of philanthropic dollars, allowing us to leverage greater return for our community’s resources. The Community Foundation of Washington County manages the following types of funds:

• Donor Advised Funds
Donor Advised Funds allow your client to be involved in the use of their gift within our community.  With a Donor Advised Fund, your client has the ability to submit their personal requests for grant distribution to our Board of Trustees.  Upon approval, we will distribute grant dollars to worthy organizations and causes throughout our community.  This type of fund gives our donors the ability to recommend organizations to receive funding that address the needs that matter most to them, thus allowing us to meet our mission of “connecting people who care with causes that matter to create a thriving community for all.”

• Designated Funds
Designated Funds allow your client to designate their gift to a specific charity or organization.  Your client has the flexibility to provide ongoing financial support to their favorite nonprofit organization, their church, their school or a charity that is near and dear to their heart.  Your client gets to choose the agency, organization, or charity to benefit from their generosity, and our staff will distribute the funds on an annual basis.

• Field of Interest Funds
Field of Interest Funds allow your clients to target their gift to focus on one area of our community that drives their personal passion.  For some donors, it will be the cultural arts.  For others, health and wellness.  The interests can be as diverse as our donors ranging from downtown revitalization to early childhood education to at-risk youth.  Once your client chooses their area of focus, our Board of Trustees will research the community organizations and programs in their area of choice. We will provide funding to organizations and agencies that are making a positive impact and demonstrating successful outcomes related to their selected area.

• Scholarship Funds
Scholarship Funds allow your client to invest in the future by helping deserving students pursue higher education. They can be established to benefit students from particular schools, attending certain post-secondary institutions, or entering certain fields of study.
