The Community Foundation of Washington County (CFWC) has been accredited with National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations®—the highest standards for philanthropic excellence.

Through a variety of named fund options as well as our Community Trust Fund, the opportunities for members of our community to make a difference in Washington County are plentiful. Whether your passion is health and wellness, cultural arts, downtown revitalization, early childhood education, or general community improvement, the CFWC can help you make your goals a reality! Together, we CAN make a difference in Washington County, both now and in the future.

CFWC offers a range of charitable funds, allowing donors to advance a cause, support an individual organization, and provide flexible support for community needs. While the creation and management of endowment and other funds is a key component of the Foundation’s work, CFWC has also developed its own unique scope of programming and initiatives focused around three key strategic pillars: Early Childhood Education, Workforce Development and Downtown Revitalization.

National Standards says that we meet the most rigorous standards in philanthropy and is a promise to our community that we’ll continue to do the greatest good together, right here in our home community. National Standards is not mandatory. We chose to go above and beyond by affirming our commitment to excellence and accountability.

Our accreditation provides assurance that we have sound policies and practices in place. In short, it means we meet the highest standards for local giving. This incredible accomplishment is a true testament to our dedication and commitment to serve YOU, our fund representatives, donors and stakeholders, as we put our mission into action of connecting people who care with causes that matter to create a thriving community for all! To receive accreditation with National Standards, our Foundation submitted our policies and procedures to a rigorous review of 26 National Standards in six key areas of community foundation operations, including donor services, investment management, grantmaking and administration. The National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations® program was established in 2000 in cooperation with the Council on Foundations.
